slowUp Bodensee moves the region - help to preserve it!

Romanshorn, July 9, 2025 - On Sunday, August 31, 2025, it will once again be muscle power instead of engine noise at the slowUp Lake Constance. But this year, the popular major event faces an uncertain future. To ensure that the slowUp Bodensee can continue to take place in the future, the organizers are urgently dependent on the support of participants - in particular through the purchase of a slowUp vignette, which is available at various points of sale along the route. Otherwise, this year's edition will be the last of its kind.

Despite this challenge, the slowUp Lake Constance remains true to its timelessly attractive recipe: casual mobility on well-secured, car-free roads. Bicycles, inline skates, longboards and all kinds of fun vehicles have free rein on the 40-kilometre route, which remains completely closed to motorized traffic. This year's slowUp Lake Constance will once again be officially opened in Romanshorn at 10.00 am.

Saving the slowUp Lake Constance together
In order to strengthen funding in the long term, cost-cutting measures have already been implemented, such as the discontinuation of parts of the supporting program or restrictions on communication. With the introduction of the vignette, a new financing approach has been created to help maintain the slowUp.
To ensure that the slowUp Lake Constance does not take place for the last time, all participants are cordially invited to purchase a slowUp vignette or a medal for children (CHF 5.- each). Every contribution helps to ensure that this popular event continues to take place in the future. The round vignette can be affixed to bicycles or textiles - a visible sign of solidarity.

Water sports experience
At this year's slowUp, the PADL-Bodensee water sports zone at the harbor in Steinach invites you to experience stand-up paddling on land up close. Paddling technique can be tested and improved on a SUP ergometer. A special highlight is the virtual reality station, which gives you the feeling of gliding across Lake Constance. The PADL-Mobil Mitch offers information and material about paddling and correct behavior on the water. The offer is complemented by other regional water sports providers.

Entertainment and culinary delights along the route
In the villages and towns along the route, there will be plenty of fun, entertainment and culinary delights: regional, seasonal and balanced specialties will be on offer at various stations. Numerous partners, including Migros as a major and long-standing sponsor, present attractive hands-on offers for young and old.

Route with screw stops
The car-free route leads from Romanshorn via Amriswil to Roggwil and via Horn and Arbon back to Romanshorn harbour. It offers plenty of variety and leads through idyllic natural landscapes, meadows, orchards and charming villages. There are repair stations along the route where minor faults on bikes or other vehicles can be repaired. If you like, you can start and finish anywhere or even shorten parts of the route using public transport.

Culturalpit stops along the route
It's worth allowing a little extra time for stops during the slowUp. The MoMö interactive museum is located directly on the route and offers interesting insights into the world of apples. There are also other sights to discover, such as Arbon Castle, Roggwil Castle, the Saurer Museum and the Locorama railroad adventure world.

Apple greetings from the Thurgau Apple Queen
Another pleasant highlight awaits in Egnach: There, the reigning Thurgau Apple Queen, Nina Gehrig, will be handing out fresh Thurgau apples to participants - a vitamin-packed snack for the road.
