Thurgau Tourism wants it sustainable

Thurgau Tourism wants to preserve the natural treasures of the region, maintain the cultural heritage that gives the canton its identity and operate in a socially responsible and sustainable manner. To achieve this, we participate in various sustainability initiatives and programs.

"Swisstainable" is the sustainability program of the Swiss Tourism Federation. It recognizes tourism businesses that are committed to greater sustainability in everyday life - for example in their dealings with the environment, employees or regional resources.
Thurgau has been a Swisstainable member since the end of 2021 and proudly at level II, "engaged", since 2024!
In Thurgau , Swisstainable means living responsibility - in harmony with hospitality, culture, enjoyment and nature. Many businesses implement living sustainability standards and show how diverse responsible tourism can be. On the "Swisstainable businesses" page, you will find a comprehensive list of over 20 partners who are involved at various levels - from committed to engaged to leading. The selection ranges from special hotels and unique event locations to creative craft businesses and stylish youth hostels to sustainable experiences by the water or on Lake Constance.
Thurgau is known for its green expanses, the picturesque Thur and Murg valleys, the idyllic Seerücken and the glistening Lake Constance. In nature, we recover from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and recharge our batteries. But it is precisely this recreational area that is endangered by advancing climate change and environmental degradation. This is why Thurgau Tourism has decided to take responsibility and, together with its guests, help to ensure that our children and grandchildren can also enjoy and relax in unspoiled nature in the future. As part of the myclimate foundation's "Cause We Care" climate protection initiative, we are committed to local and global climate protection.
We want tourism for everyone. And we believe that the Thurgau region is a wonderful excursion destination for people who are dependent on aids such as walking aids, wheelchairs or baby carriages. The landscape is flat to gently undulating at most. That's why we became a member of OK:GO. This initiative helps tourism providers in Switzerland to record and publish information on the accessibility of their offers. This makes it easier for people with disabilities, older people and families with small children to plan their trips and invites them to visit Thurgau.
