Romanshorn, August 31, 2025 - The 24th slowUp Lake Constance took place today. In bright sunshine and warm temperatures, the tried-and-tested recipe of the event was once again celebrated: Unconstrained mobility using your own muscle power on motor-free, well-secured roads. The mood among the approximately 38,000 participants was cheerful and exuberant, and the event went off without any major incidents.
The 24th slowUp opened punctually at 10.00 a.m. at the harbor area in Romanshorn. Cycling enthusiasts and fun-mobilists enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere along the 40-kilometer traffic-free route. Culinary stops, festival restaurants and cultural attractions provided variety, a good mood and enjoyable breaks.
Great interest in the vignette
The slowUp vignette was actively sold for the first time in 2025 at three narrowing points along the route. Fortunately, many participants took advantage of the opportunity to directly support the event with a vignette. This marks an important, albeit not yet conclusive, step towards securing the slowUp Bodensee. The strong demand for the vignette underlines the great popularity of the event. On October 27, 2025, an extraordinary meeting of the sponsoring association will decide on the basis of the event accounts whether and in what form another slowUp Lake Constance will be held. The income generated from the sale of vignettes is an essential part of this.
Highlights from partners and sponsors
This year, numerous partners once again contributed to the special experience with creative offers. Thurgau's fruit growers and berry producers provided enjoyable moments along the route with tastings. In Arbon, the Alpine Sauna offered a special relaxation break right by the lake. In the Famigros zone, fun and games were provided around the Migros cult brand. Max Zeller Söhne AG presented itself with a wheel of fortune and great prizes, while the PADL Bodensee water sports zone encouraged people to get moving on the water and whetted their appetite for the water trend sport. "We weren't able to refresh the participants directly with the water sports zone, but we were able to get them all the more excited about paddle sports," says Franziska Bresciani, responsible for PADL Bodensee.
Satisfied faces along the route
"The slowUp Bodensee is more than just a leisure event - it brings people together and creates lasting experiences," says OC President Rolf Müller. "Such a socially sustainable event should not be missing in the future, its positive effect on the population is enormous."
Based on projections and random sample counts along the route, the number of participants this year is estimated at around 38,000. This figure is comparable with successful fair-weather events from previous years. The first-aid posts had to treat almost 80 minor injuries such as grazes and insect bites; there were no major incidents.
