Thurgau meets Rütli - and Tell the apple!

Ship station Rütli_Angel Sanchez

Romanshorn/Altdorf, July 10, 2025 - Two cantons, two cultures and a shared history: the new cooperation "Tell meets apple / Apple meets Tell" connects the home of the apple with the home of the Swiss national hero. A unique offer for locals and guests to discover the culinary and historical highlights of the partner region "Cradle of Switzerland"!

An experience between history and pleasure
When you hear Uri, you think of William Tell, the Rütli and dramatic legends. When you hear Thurgau , you think of lush apple orchards, rolling hills and culinary delights. But what happens when these two worlds meet?
"Apple meets Tell" invites the people of Thurgau on a journey of discovery into the heart of Switzerland, steeped in history. The day's program starts with a picturesque boat trip and a guided hike along the historical sites around the Rütli, with culinary highlights such as the "oath menu" and a special apple shot dessert.
In return, it's "Tell meets apple" for the people around Lake Uri. The journey leads to Hüttwilen, where a cider tour with tastings, a regional lunch in the Mosteria and a guided tour of Urs Haag's orchards are on the program. Here you can experience Thurgau from its most delicious side!

Invitation to a change of perspective
"With this offer, we want to encourage people to broaden their horizons and discover the partner region in a completely new way," says Sabrina Kummer, Product Manager at Thurgau Tourismus. "It's an invitation to change your perspective: those who love apples will appreciate the history - and those who know Tell will enjoy the apple!" and Jasmin Schuler, Head of Guest Information at Uri Tourism, adds: "We are delighted to be able to offer this special package and look forward to welcoming many participants in both regions."
