As part of the Frauenfeld Street Art Festival, international artists will transform gray facades into colorful statements – sometimes loud and striking, sometimes poetic and sensitive. Beats, bass, encounters: Open-air concerts in Thurgau
When the days get longer and the nights get warmer, it's open-air season. There is a wide range on offer: from the small, intimate Bischofszell open-air festival with hand-picked acts and a family atmosphere, to the genre-spanning Krach am Bach in Seebadi Tägerwilen, to the international Frauenfeld open-air festival, Europe's largest hip-hop festival, which will once again thrill tens of thousands of music fans at the beginning of July. And the stylish SummerDays Festival, right on the shores of Lake Constance in Arbon, attracts a diverse audience every year with pop, rock, and electronic sounds, plus a guaranteed sunset.
Scenes in the spotlight: Theater under the stars
Those who prefer quiet sounds and big stories will find what they are looking for at the open-air theaters in Thurgau. This year, the See-Burgtheater, overlooking Lake Constance in Kreuzlingen, is staging the successful film "Honig im Kopf" (Honey in the Head) by and starring Til Schweiger. With subtle humor, it manages to touch on the uncertain topic of Alzheimer's disease. The Hagenwil Castle Festival combines theater with a unique castle atmosphere in the courtyard of the historic building. The program features a sophisticated mix of thriller, comedy, and espionage from the British crime classic "The 39 Steps."
Big screen under the open sky: open-air cinema with a view of the lake
When dusk falls over the lake, Thurgau becomes Thurgau movie set: Coop Open Air Cinema, with two charming locations in Kreuzlingen (Seeburgpark) and Arbon (Seeparksaal), invites you to enjoy cinema under the stars. Blockbusters, classics, and surprise hits are shown – lake, snacks, and summer night included. Those who like adventure can choose the innovative SUP cinema at the Hörnlibuck bathing facility in Rorschacherberg. Sitting on a stand-up paddleboard, watching a movie on the water is a unique experience.
