Billions of suns - A journey through the galaxy

People have been thinking about the stars and the Milky Way for thousands of years. How far away are these twinkling lights and how can this be measured? For a long time, these questions remained unanswered and the Milky Way was a great mystery. Only today, with the help of satellites, has it been possible to measure the distances to the stars - and thus the spatial structure of our Milky Way - with great precision. The show takes visitors through the history of astronomy, from the simplest methods of mapping stars to determining the structure of our Milky Way, culminating in the launch of ESA's Gaia mission, which will revolutionize our understanding of the Milky Way. Ages 12 and up. All planetarium shows are impressive, multi-media experiences on a 360° fulldome screen and are performed by the expert members of the Kreuzlingen Astronomical Association AVK. Each show concludes with a live moderated view of the current starry sky - possible in all weathers thanks to the projection and dome screen.
