Five stations
The route, which is just over 11 km long with 360 meters of elevation gain, winds through varied landscapes and leads to five carefully curated tasting stations. At each station, you’ll find a diverse selection of small regional delicacies as well as several distinctive wines. Everything is self-service, completely casual, natural, and authentic.
We recommend traveling by public transportation. The Weinfelden train station is just a short walk from the check-in area at the Thurgauer Kantonalbank and is easily accessible from throughout the region. This way, you can start your day of indulgence stress-free and enjoy the wines even more carefree along the way.

This scenic loop trail takes you from Weinfelden up to the Ottenberg and back to the town center via shady forest paths and sunny vineyards.

Starting point: Thurgauer Kantonalbank plaza, Weinfelden

  1. Stelzenhof Farm: A steep climb with a reward. Enjoy the first sweeping view.

  2. Restaurant Thurberg: A leisurely walk through the woods to this lookout point.

  3. Markus Held Winery: From Dattenhub, the path leads straight down into the vineyards.

  4. Burkhart Winery: Take a walk along the Weinfelder Wine Trail to this stop for a taste of the local wines.

  5. Weinfelden Marketplace: The grand finale in the heart of the city (in case of bad weather, at the Convention Center)

The route is just over 11 km long, has an elevation gain of 360 meters, and about half of it runs along unpaved trails.

The ticket price is CHF 115.00 and includes:

  • Directions: The entire hiking trail is marked with signs.

Note: The CwC climate contribution is not yet included in the price and will be charged additionally.

The walking time for the approximately 11 km is about 3.5 hours. Since you can stop and enjoy yourself at five stations along the way, you should plan on spending a total of about 5 to 8 hours. We recommend that those who prefer a more leisurely pace start early, as the stations close at a certain time (see question: How long can I stay at the stations?)

You can manage your own schedule; just be sure to check the stations' opening hours:

1. Tasting Stop: Wirtschaft Stelzenhof AG - open until 3:00 PM
2.    Tasting Stop: Restaurant Thurberg – open until 4:00 p.m.
3. Tasting Stop: Markus Held Winery – open until 5:30 p.m.
4. Tasting Stop: Burkhart Winery – open until 7:00 p.m.
5. Tasting Stop: Weinfelden Market Square / Congress Center – open until 8:00 p.m.

To avoid long waiting times at the stations and ensure you can enjoy your meal in a relaxed atmosphere, we spread the starts across different time slots. This keeps the atmosphere friendly and cozy for everyone.

At each station, we offer a simple vegetarian option. Unfortunately, we are currently unable to offer vegan options.

Of course! Fresh tap water and two non-alcoholic specialties from the Möhl cider factory are available for you at each station. Additional beverages can be purchased on site if needed.

We recommend traveling by public transport. Weinfelden train station has excellent connections and is only a few minutes' walk from check-in.

Find a connection

Yes, the culinary hike generally takes place regardless of the weather. In the event of extreme weather warnings, we will notify all participants in a timely manner via our website and by email. Should we, as the organizers, have to cancel the event, you will, of course, receive a full refund of the ticket price.

We recommend comfortable hiking boots or sturdy sneakers, weather-appropriate clothing, and sunscreen. You’ll receive your personal wine glass and the booklet—which also serves as your ticket for tastings at the stops—directly from us at check-in.

Four-legged friends are welcome on a leash and in the outdoor areas of the stations. However, please bear in mind that it can get very busy at the stops and your dog should be comfortable in crowds.

Unfortunately, refunds are not possible. However, as our tickets are not personalized, you can easily transfer your seat to friends or family.

Since our event focuses on wine tasting, among other things, the hike is specifically designed for adults (participants must be 16 or older). Please note that for this reason, we do not offer tickets for children. We value responsible enjoyment in a relaxed atmosphere and ask for your understanding that the supporting program is not tailored to younger guests. ID may be requested at check-in to verify age.
