Guided tour of the old town of Arbon

Guided tour of the old town of Arbon
The public guided tour of the old town takes guests through the eventful history of the port town of Arbon: from the pile dwellers of the Neolithic Age to the extraordinary industrial pioneers of the Saurer family, right up to the present day.

City guides bring Arbon’s rich history to life. And it’s well worth listening to. As early as the Neolithic period, around 3000 BC, there was a pile-dwelling settlement on what is now Arbon. The Romans arrived and left behind sections of a city wall, towers, and more. Arbon-based Adolph Saurer AG was long the leading Swiss manufacturer of trucks. Participants in the public guided tours through the historic town can learn about this and more from mid-June through mid-September, every Tuesday at 10 a.m. and Sunday at 10:30 a.m. The meeting point is at the Arbon Tourist Information Office. The tour lasts about an hour and a half. Tickets can be purchased online or on-site.
