Michael Broger Viticulture

The Ottenberg in Thurtal is one of the wine-growing centers of the canton of Thurgau. Michael Broger Weinbau has been producing wine on the small vineyard above Boltshausen since 2002 on 2.5 hectares of owned and leased vineyards.
Out of care for the soil, work on steep vineyards is carried out by hand or with hand-guided caterpillar vehicles. The grapes are pressed directly on the farm and, where possible, the red wine is made with the grapes' own yeast. After fermentation, the young wine flows into the winery's own natural cellar without the use of pumps. There it is stored in wooden barrels and undergoes malolactic fermentation and the resting phase until it is ready to be bottled, following the rhythm of the seasons. The wines are bottled as naturally as possible and customers are consciously allowed to experience fluctuations in the vintage.
