Natural jewel Seebachtal

The Seebach Valley in Thurgau is nestled between the hills of the Seerücken and the Thur Valley. This natural jewel of national importance comprises three picturesque lakes. The once almost destroyed habitats are now pure nature again, mystical and relaxing at the same time.
The Seebachtal consists of three small lakes: Lake Hüttwil, Lake Nussbaum and Lake Hasensee lie close together. The valley is a Thurgau island of biodiversity. This was not always the case. Much of the species-rich habitat was lost when the banks were drained during the Battle of Cultivation in the Second World War. The Seebachtal Foundation for the Protection of the Three Lakes put an end to the destruction. After extensive renaturation, endangered amphibians such as the tree frog and the newt returned. Dragonflies, beavers, waterfowl and other rare plants and animals also live in the lakes, surrounding ponds, streams and fens. Winding paths lead over footbridges, past viewing platforms and along the banks, inviting visitors to discover and linger. The lake access points, most of which are free of charge, are ideal for swimming and are also a great place to take a break and enjoy a barbecue outside the bathing season. The obstacle-free route 918 is suitable for wheelchairs and baby carriages. Even the pile dwellers enjoyed the Inseli in Lake Nussbaum. The site is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. A sign in the area with a video link provides information.
