Show depot St. Katharinental | Folklore collection Historical Museum Thurgau

The St. Katharinental show depot, idyllically situated on the banks of the Rhine near Diessenhofen, is a center for everyday rural culture in the Lake Constance region: agriculture, viticulture, transport, crafts and trades as well as domestic women's work are brought to life here.
An overwhelming variety of over 10,000 objects are exhibited in the granary of the former Dominican convent. Visitors can witness the way of life and work in great-grandmother's time in an impressive way. On 2,700 square meters, visitors can immerse themselves in the world of our ancestors. What motivated horse owners to hang a piece of engraved deer antler on their carriage? Why was a scissors motif pressed into a roof tile? On guided tours, visitors learn fascinating stories from a time without robotic lawnmowers, induction stoves and cell phones. They can also marvel at the largest historical wooden barrel in Switzerland, a 45,000-liter giant from 1759 from Mostindien.
The show depot opens its doors all year round - but only by appointment. There is a choice of guided tours on various topics, which last around 60 minutes.
