Gachnang Castle
Originally built as a moated castle, Gachnang Castle was rebuilt by the monastery in 1767. The 13th-century keep was enclosed by residential buildings in the 16th and 17th centuries. Major additions and renovations took place in 1741 and, following the fire in 1929, included a new stepped gable. In 1916, the castle passed to the Müller brothers, who operated a cider mill there. Magnificent portal grilles from the 18th and 19th centuries, as well as a fountain from the second half of the 18th century, characterize the estate. Inside, visitors will find the Escher Room with imitation tapestries, a picture gallery featuring oil-painted panels, and white and painted stoves, including some by Rudolf Kuhn of Rieden. Elegant interiors and a spacious outdoor area make the castle ideal for weddings, birthday parties, corporate events, and cultural gatherings such as exhibitions, harmoniously blending its historic atmosphere with modern use.
