New Hörnli-Bergland meeting place

June 24, 2025 - Since the end of June, a very special place at Fischingen Monastery has been inviting visitors to discover it: the new "Waldlichtung". As an interactive installation made from regional tree trunks, it brings the Hörnli-Bergland to life with sound, movement and surprising perspectives.

The "Waldlichtung" is not only a sensual meeting place, but also a visible milestone on the way to a possible nature center in the monastery area. What is currently beginning as a prototype could become a permanent place for nature, knowledge and exchange in the region with the support of the Thurgauer Kantonalbank IPO and committed partners.

The Hörnli-Bergland stretches across the cantons of Zurich, St. Gallen and Thurgau and combines impressive natural and cultural landscapes. The aim of the collaboration between Standortförderung Zürioberland, Toggenburg Tourismus and Thurgau Tourismus is to create sustainable offers relating to biodiversity, landscape conservation, nutrition, culture and building culture. The aim is to strengthen the area as a high-quality retreat and recreation area - as a counterpoint to the urban area of Zurich. The project is supported by the New Regional Policy (NRP) of the federal government and cantons and is an important step towards the sustainable development of the region.
