Three personalities - three home stories

Home is a matter of taste! We think so. So, in a completely clichéd way, we have chosen three Thurgau personalities to give us their opinion on this outrageously profound topic. Beni, a true Thurgau native, Lina, a homesick Thurgau native, and Andrea, a Thurgau native by choice, answer our questions in this interview.

The true Thurgau native: Beni Bischof
Bernhard Bischof († 2024) - but everyone just called him Beni - had overcome many hurdles in his life. He always took the many stairs up to the guild room with his left hand. He reinstated the Bischofszell night watchman, fulfilling a long-cherished wish. When asked what home smells like to him, he replies: "You know, I can taste home from afar!" Yes, Thurgau is also a world to the nose. And that is perhaps one of the reasons why Beni likes it here so much.
The homesick Thurgau woman: Lina Button
Lina Button knows exactly what she's doing. She probably needs this self-confidence to make it as a musician in the big wide world. So it's somehow understandable that she outgrew Pfyn - the place where she grew up - at some point and moved to the big city of Zurich. But it is precisely when she is looking for space in Zurich to make room for thoughts and feelings that she likes to return home.

"Home is the place where the heart is at home."

The Thurgau man of choice: Andrea Adduci
It was love at first sight. It happened during a bike tour in 2011. No, it wasn't a pretty brunette that the southern Italian fell in love with. There are plenty of those in Thurgau , that's as certain as d'Bluescht in April. Andrea Adduci was much more taken with the lakeside town of Arbon. Years later, this feeling led him to his adopted home of Langrickenbach, which is around 20 kilometers up the lake from Arbon. This is where the former globetrotter felt at home for the first time.
