Stählibuck Tower

High up on Frauenfeld's local mountain, Stählibuck, stands the eponymous steel giant, the Stählibuck Tower. At 27 meters high, it is a sporting challenge for anyone who wants to climb its 148 steps. The reward for the effort is a fantastic panoramic view that stretches from the Vorarlberg in the east to the Bernese Alps in the west.
And if you've worked up an appetite on the climb, there are cozy barbecue areas waiting for you at the foot of the tower. The Stählibuck Tower was built in 1908 on the initiative of the Frauenfeld Regional Tourist Board. It is one of the oldest steel lattice towers in Switzerland. During the Second World War, it even served as an air observation post.
This rewarding excursion destination can be reached via picturesque hikes from all directions through the gentle Thurgau countryside. A map can be found in the brochure "Hikes to Stählibuck".
