Stand-up paddleboarding in winter

SUP in winter opens up a whole new perspective on the lake: clear air, sparkling water, and the special tranquility of the cold season make every tour unique. But winter on the water demands respect and preparation—only then can paddling be safe and enjoyable.

Properly equipped
The right equipment is crucial for safe winter SUP. Dry suits keep your body reliably dry and, in combination with functional underwear, warm. Your feet, hands, and head need special protection: thick neoprene shoes or socks, thin neoprene gloves, and suitable headgear ensure that you can paddle comfortably and safely even in low temperatures.
Safe and respectful
When winter SUPing on Lake Constance, the motto is: protect nature and paddle safely. Keep your distance from birds, avoid protected areas, and wear a leash, life jacket, and weather-appropriate equipment when out on the water. If possible, don't paddle alone, or let someone know about your trip.
