On the road between the lake and nature: Our two-day getaway takes you from Frauenfeld to the “ Tannzapfenland ” and promises a weekend full of variety. You can easily take this tour by public transportation or by car.

You’ll find more inspiration for unique accommodations, delightful restaurants, and unforgettable experiences below.

morning
Your first day begins on two wheels. The approximately 50-kilometer Castle Tour takes you around Frauenfeld to eight castles, fortresses, and ruins. Along the way, audio stories recount times gone by as you cycle through rolling hills, villages, and the vast Thurgau countryside. This combines exercise, culture, and history into a varied cycling experience.
Lunch
While on the Castle Tour, stop for a delightful break at Scharfen Eck in Frauenfeld. The menu features traditional Swiss dishes alongside specialties from the Far East. It’s the perfect place to recharge your batteries for the next leg of your bike ride.
afternoon
After lunch, hop back on your bike and continue the castle tour. For a short break, it’s worth taking a detour to the Seebachtal valley. Between Hüttwilersee, Nussbaumersee, and Hasensee, trails and boardwalks invite you to take a short walk through this natural gem.
Accommodation
After an active day on your bike, a well-deserved rest awaits you at the Hotel Münchwilen. The modern rooms offer plenty of comfort. Cyclists also benefit from a bike storage area, an e-bike charging station, and a repair kit—ideal if you’ve brought your own bike.
Dinner
In the evening, just a few steps from the hotel, you’ll find a taste of Italy. At the Dolce Vita restaurant, you can enjoy Calabrian specialties in a cozy atmosphere and relax as you wind down from an active day surrounded by Mediterranean flavors.
morning
Put on your hiking boots and let’s go: After breakfast, a real fall highlight awaits—the 11.5-kilometer-long Thurgau Tannzapfenweg. Starting at Fischingen Monastery, the route takes you through colorful forests and across meadows up to the Fischinger Grat, the highest point in the canton of Thurgau. Along the way, beautiful views of the fall landscape open up time and again.
Lunch
After the hike, a well-deserved meal awaits you at Fischingen Monastery. The monastery kitchen creatively incorporates regional ingredients from the “ Tannzapfenland ” into its dishes. In the unique atmosphere of the historic monastery, you can enjoy a relaxing end to your two active days at the “ Thurgau .”
