Snow sports experience in Thurgau

When the white blanket of snow covers the rolling hills of Thurgau with snow crystals, winter fans experience a very special moment of happiness. It's time to pack your sled, wax your skis, sharpen your runners – and off you go to the freshly groomed trails, slopes, sledding hills, and ice rinks for all those who love to speed down the slopes, ride sleds, and skate on ice.

Nestled in the beautiful landscape near Salen-Reutenen on the Seerücken, an experienced team prepares the topographically varied cross-country trails. Three parking lots with direct access to the cross-country trails and hiking trails are available for winter hikers and cross-country skiing enthusiasts. In good conditions, a 12 km training track is groomed for both skaters and classic skiers.
Sledding is fun and provides fast-paced action in winter. A long sledding trail leads down into the valley from the Hörnli mountain inn. Numerous other hill trails and roads without winter maintenance bring smiles to the faces of sledding enthusiasts. For example, from the Dornhof restaurant in Steinebrunn to Langgrüt, on the Ottenberg near Weinfelden, or in Thundorf on the Kirchweg, which provides icy speeds from the church downhill. There are also Thurgau winter walking trails in Thurgau for sledders who pull children along on runners.
The cross-country ski trail of the Wellenberg Cross-Country Ski Club near Lustdorf is groomed and maintained with great passion. If there is not enough snow for Nordic skiing, fitness enthusiasts meet up for Nordic walking instead and march through the idyllic landscape with poles. Tip: Just a few minutes' drive away is the Stählibuck restaurant, which offers beautiful views. Young guests are very welcome – there is a painting corner inside and a playground outside, as well as all kinds of animal friends to meet. In addition to donkeys, pigs, and goats, reindeer from the far north are a particular attraction in winter.
Everyone skis, everyone skis... that's exactly how it is at the small ski lift in Wuppenau. Here, the peaceful rules of the operators Elisabeth and Hanspeter Bamert apply – and so even the smallest beginners can be pulled up the mountain on the handy black pony bars. Whether on two boards, one board or two runners, it doesn't really matter. Safety is the top priority, closely followed by fun. The Nollen restaurant satisfies hungry stomachs, quenches thirst, and quickly thaws frozen fingers and feet.
In Klingenzell above Mammern, a winter paradise awaits with the most beautiful view of Lake Untersee. The Mammern ski lift is perfect as a practice slope for little ice princesses and snowmen. To round off an active winter's day in the fresh air, we recommend a hearty feast in a Thurgau winter restaurant with chalet charm.
Caution: Black ice
Those who prefer skates to boards will find Thurgau rarely has frozen lakes, but plenty of other ice surfaces to glide across. There are many opportunities for ice skating. Protected from the wind and snowflakes at the Oberthurgau EZO ice sports center in Romanshorn, ice disco at the Bodenseearena Kreuzlingen, barrier-free ice fun at the Ekkharthof, or hockey at the Frauenfeld artificial ice rink.
