Grand Train Tour of Switzerland

The Grand Train Tour of Switzerland combines a total of eight routes. The approximately 1,280-kilometre adventure tour connects various sights in Switzerland and brings public transport to life all year round. Travelers can find information on the eastern Swiss section of the route from Zurich via Schaffhausen, along the Rhine and Lake Constance, to St. Gallen.

Along the Rhine and Untersee

From Zurich, the train travels over the Rhine Falls to the fortified town of Schaffhausen. The Thurbo regional train takes you past the pretty little town of Stein am Rhein and on along the idyllic Untersee. The wonderful view as far as the island of Reichenau and the deep blue water will delight every rail traveler. Alternatively, the route can also be covered on the water on a boat operated by the Schweizerische Schiffahrtsgesellschaft Untersee und Rhein.

From Kreuzlingen to St. Gallen

On the route between Kreuzlingen and St. Gallen, the railroad line runs alongside the water. The view sweeps across the expanse of Lake Constance as far as the Alpstein.
