Enjoy Thurgau 48 hours

Our two-day inspirational tour takes you to the Weinfelden region and combines relaxation with enjoyable experiences. You can easily explore the area by public transportation or by car.

You’ll find more inspiration for unique accommodations, delightful restaurants, and unforgettable experiences below.

morning
The region around Weinfelden, Ottenberg, and Boltshausen is known for its vineyards. A hike along the Wine Trail in Weinfelden offers the perfect opportunity to explore this area. The hike starts in the center of Weinfelden. After picking up your tasting backpack, the route takes you straight into the vineyards. Over the course of about three hours, you’ll pass two wine tasting stations where you can sample regional wines.
Lunch
A cozy lunch awaits you at the Haldenhof Inn on Ottenberg. This family-run business specializes in seasonal cuisine made with regional ingredients and homemade specialties. A glass of wine from their own vineyards—ranging from Pinot Noir to Blanc de Noir—pairs perfectly with the meal. Once you’ve refueled, you’ll continue on through the autumnal vineyards of Ottenberg.
afternoon
In the afternoon, you’ll continue your tour along the Wine Trail. Amid golden vineyards, sweeping views, and autumnal scenery, the route continues over the Ottenberg. Along the way, you’ll have plenty of time to enjoy the view and sample another regional wine at the wine tasting stations.
Break
The nearly nine-kilometer loop trail takes you past various wineries and restaurants. The Sunnehalde Winery, located above Weinfelden, is a particularly lovely spot to take a break. Nestled among the vineyards, you can enjoy a wonderful view of the region from here.
Accommodation
After an enjoyable day on the Ottenberg, you’ll spend the night at the Gasthof Eisenbahn in the heart of Weinfelden. This family-run inn charms guests with its cozy atmosphere, modern, renovated rooms, and great attention to detail. Here, you can wind down at the end of the day and enjoy a restful night in the heart of Weinfelden.
Dinner
In the evening, you can enjoy seasonal cuisine with a distinct Thurgau flair at the Gasthof Eisenbahn. Vegetables, meat, and wine are sourced from the region whenever possible, complemented by specialties such as Thurgau wild trout or game from local hunts. Prepared with great care, these ingredients come together to create exquisite dishes that perfectly round out a delightful day.
morning
After breakfast, we’ll continue on to Sulgen, where relaxation and renewed energy await at the grow vitalfabrik. In the modern sauna area—featuring a Finnish sauna, steam room, and infrared cabins—you can leave the stresses of everyday life behind. Natural treatments using herbs from the “ Thurgau ” provide additional soothing relaxation, perfect for a leisurely autumn morning.
Lunch
To round off your trip, Klein Rigi in Schönenberg on the Thur offers yet another opportunity to enjoy fine dining with a view. High above the Thur Valley, you can savor delicious dishes in a unique setting with a view stretching all the way to Säntis. It’s the perfect way to end your autumn getaway—relaxed and enjoyable.
